As the date of fresh tenders for aakash 2 is nearing, more and more new players are preparing to strong their hold on the world cheapest tablet which has now become the pride and prestige of the Indian Government. Many previous bidders of aakash 2 are ready to give it all to get the project after seeing the huge potential in Indian market. According to WishTel Chief Executive Officer Milind Shah “We are eagerly waiting for the same, given an opportunity we are getting ready for this project, it is a very ambitious project”. Wishtel was one of that company who lose to Datawind in the first phase of the aakash 2 project and the bold statement shows how desperately they want this tender. He also quoted that in the previous round the price was very competitive as Datawind for aakash 2 but they lost the bid due to logistics, support and taxes and they even quoted a bit lower than Datawind for aakash 2 in first round.
Aakash 2 price : volume plays the game
With new upgrades and better specs the cost of manufacturing of aakash 2 will be more but due to the huge demand that won’t be problem anymore. He said that even at such a lower price it’s the volume game with 5 million new devices to be manufactured for aakash 2 project. The company today lunches two tablets Ira and Ira Thing with a price range of 4,000 to 5,500 providing the HD video support and 3G connectivity to the tablets. The tablet will run Linux operating system which now supports 23 Indian Languages. The Linux OS is different from Android tablets like aakash 2. The tablet is priced low to lure the customers from aakash 2 and bsnl penta. The company will manufacture these tablets at Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Aakash 2 will be “democratizing technology”
In an event of Silver Jubilee of Center for Development of Advance Computing (C-DAC) minister of states for communication Mr. Sachin Pilot says that “The project (aakash 2) is aimed at democratizing technology in the country. The focus is on service to citizens and how a Government will interface directly with public without any human interference”. He also acknowledges the role of C-DAC in increasing computing level and awareness in country and blessed the organization. C-DAC is also included for aakash 2 improvement and cot reduction. Another guest at the event Mr. Sam Pitroda (advisor of PM) said that we had passed through the first phase of telecom revolution and the second phase is now gaining the momentum.
