By -

Aakash tablet 2 (the elder brother of Aakash) specifications were released by the HRD ministry. Due to a large criticism over the performance followed by the recent rift between Datawind and IIT Rajasthan aakash is finally upgraded and next version will be more powerful than present one. Aakash was facing a stiff competition from BSNL tablet and BSNL was cashing the ground of aakash due to better specification and after a long delay this tablet is finally set to launch in April. The tablet cant rival the major player like apple ipad 3g or blackberry playbooks due to performance benchmarks and the brand value they set up but can present a good deal and true value for money.

Aakash tablet 2 to feature better processor and better battery life

Aakash tablet 2The new aakash tablet 2 is built upon the Cortex A8 architecture which provides it significant speed then its previous version and also then its competitor BSNL Penta tablet. It have a processor of 700Mhz which in ARM terms is equal to about 1400 MHz thus getting an extra 400 MHz over its nearest competitor BSNL tablet which is powered by ARM-11 architecture.
A improved battery of 3200mAh is added to aakash tab which claims to run the tablet 3 hours without any power. Though not much is said about the Operating System of the tablet but it’s expected to run the Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform. A much of emphasis is given to boost up the performance after the recent criticism.

Aakash tablet 2 touch screen will be capacitive

In order to pay more attention for the ease of usability and better performance Aakash tablet 2 will have the touch screen of capacitive nature and not the resistive touch screen. In simple terms capacitive screen is much more responsive then resistive and you don’t have to press the screen for any selection. Mr Sibbal also said that once they reach the production capacity in order to empower the students it will be easier for them to distribute the aakash tab 2 on time.

Union Minister Mr. Kapil Sibbal said that the delay in delivering the tablet is due to the testing time taken due to poor specification of the older version. He said that it was due to the better feedback given by the students of several government institutes who tested the tablet, they are able to upgrade Aakash  and new version aakash tablet 2 will hit the public soon in April and he will also meet IIT Rajasthan Director over the recent differences between Datawind and Students of IIT Rajasthan over the performance of tablet. Well nothing much has changed then what we have stated in our previous posts Indian public is still waiting for the aakash2 to start shipping.

This is another good news for mobile application developers and android app developers as the tablet will increase the huge demand for apps development and will boost up the mobile application development field.
